Origin The dried seed kernels of Myristica fragrans Houtt. of the genus Myristica, family Myrtaceae.
Function and treatment Warming the middle of the body and promoting the flow of Qi, astringing the intestines to stop diarrhea. Used for deficiency cold in the spleen and stomach, prolonged diarrhea, distension and pain in the abdomen, vomiting with little food.
Origin and best harvesting period It is widely cultivated in the tropics, but is not produced in China, but mainly in Malaysia, India, Brazil and other places. It starts to bear fruits about 7 years after cultivation, and the ripe fruits are harvested twice a year from April to June and from November to December.
