Origin The dried mature seeds, hulls, and roots of Canavalia gladiata (Jacq.) DC.
Function and treatment Warming the middle, lowering Qi, and stopping eruption. Used for deficiency cold eruption and vomiting.
Origin and best harvesting period Sword beans are mainly produced in Jiangsu, Hubei and Anhui. Harvesting takes place in spring and summer and fall. In spring cultivation, seeds are sown in late February-late March, and planting is done in late March-late April. Harvesting can start in early June-mid August, and seeds can be harvested in late July-early August. In summer and fall, seeds are sown from mid-May to early August, and can be harvested in the first half of July and the second half of October. Knife beans are heat-resistant plants, so they can be grown in spring, summer and fall.
