Origin It is the dried body of Zaocys dhumnades (Cantor), a wandering snake.
Function and treatment Exorcising wind, promoting circulation and stopping spasm. Used for wind-damp stubborn paralysis, numbness and constriction, stroke with oblique mouth and eyes, hemiplegia, convulsions and spasms, tetanus, leprosy and scabies.
Origin and best harvesting period Distributed in East China, South China, Southwest China and Hunan, Hubei, Shanxi and Hebei. It is produced in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Hubei, Anhui and Sichuan, etc. It is caught between April and November. After catching, the snake is dropped dead, its abdomen is dissected to remove the internal organs; it is dished into a circle and smoked dry with firewood, turning frequently while smoking until the surface is slightly black, and then dried in the sun or in the bed.
