Origin The dried, nearly ripe fruit of Prunus mume (Sieh.) Sieb .et Zucc. in the family Rosaceae.
Function and treatment Astringent to the lung, astringent to the intestines, generating body fluid and calming roundworm. Used for lung deficiency and prolonged cough, prolonged dysentery and slippery intestine, deficiency heat and thirst, roundworm syndrome, vomiting and abdominal pain, biliary ascariasis.
Origin and best harvesting period Dark plum is mainly produced in Sichuan, Zhejiang, Fujian, Hunan and Guizhou. The fruit is harvested in summer when it is nearly ripe, roasted at low temperature until the flesh is yellowish brown and wrinkled, and then smothered until it is black.
