Origin The dried rhizome of Polygonatum kingianum Coll. et Hemsl., Polygonatum sibiricum Red. or Polygonatum cyrtonema Hua, Liliaceae.
Function and treatment Tonifying Qi and nourishing Yin, strengthening the spleen, moistening the lung and benefiting the kidney. Used for deficiency of spleen and stomach qi, body fatigue and weakness, deficiency of stomach yin, dry mouth and little food, deficiency of lung and dry cough, coughing and coughing blood with labor, deficiency of essence and blood, soreness and weakness of waist and knees, premature graying of hair, internal heat and thirst.
Origin and best harvesting period It is mainly distributed in Henan, Jiangsu, Shanxi, Anhui, Shaanxi, Zhejiang, Shandong, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Gansu, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places, almost all over the country. It should be harvested from November to January of the following year after 3 years of growth.
