Origin The dried ripe fruit of Phyllanthus emblica L., family Euphorbiaceae.
Function and treatment Clearing heat and cooling the blood, eliminating food and strengthening the stomach, producing body fluid and relieving cough. Used for blood heat and blood stasis, indigestion, abdominal distension, cough, sore throat and dry mouth.
Origin and best harvesting period It is mainly produced in Fujian, Guangxi, Guangdong, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan. The general harvesting season is from winter to the following spring, and varies slightly from place to place depending on the climate, temperature difference, and sunshine time.
