Origin The dried mycorrhizal nucleus of Poria cocos (Schw.) Wolf, a fungus of the family Polyporaceae.
Function and treatment Inducing diuresis and dampness, strengthening the spleen and tranquilizing the heart. For edema and urination, phlegm and dizziness, palpitation, spleen deficiency, loose stools and diarrhea, restlessness, palpitation and insomnia.
Origin and best harvesting period Poria is mainly produced in Hunan, Guizhou, Hubei, Anhui, Sichuan and other places. Historically, the best quality of wild Yunnan, called "Yunling", now Luotian in Hubei "Juzi River Poria" is the main. Generally for April-July planting, July-September harvesting, to the best quality after autumn, Yunnan four seasons planting, harvesting period is mainly based on the experience of farmers to judge, and no clear optimal harvesting period.
