Origin The dried rhizome of Turmeric Curcuma Longa L., family Gingeraceae.
Function and treatment Breaking up blood and promoting circulation of Qi, promoting menstruation and relieving pain. Used for stabbing pain in the chest, chest pain, menstrual pain, obstruction of menstruation, pain in the shoulder and arm due to rheumatism, and painful drops and swellings.
Origin and best harvesting period Habitat: mostly cultivated. Occasionally wild in sunny fields with rich, loose soil. Distribution: In Jiangxi, Fujian, Taiwan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Sichuan, Yunnan and other places. The stems and leaves are harvested in winter when they are withered, washed, boiled or steamed until the heart is penetrated, dried in the sun, and the fibrous roots removed.
