Function and treatment It is a great tonic for the vital energy, restores the pulse and fixes detachment, tonifies the spleen, benefits the lung, generates fluid and calms the mind. For deficiency of the body and desire to detoxify, cold extremities and weak pulse, deficiency of the spleen and lack of food, deficiency of the lung and wheezing and coughing, thirst due to fluid injury, internal heat and thirst, deficiency of the body in prolonged illness, palpitation and insomnia, impotence and coldness in the uterus; heart failure and cardiogenic shock.
Origin and best harvesting period Ginseng is generally found in deciduous broad-leaved forests or mixed coniferous broad-leaved forests at altitudes of several hundred metres. It is distributed in the northeastern provinces of China. It is cultivated in large quantities in Liaoning and Jilin, and in recent years in Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Hubei and other provinces and regions.
